Recommended beaches in Phuket

Coming to Phuket, Thailand and looking for the most beautiful beaches? The most perfect beaches in Phuket? The beaches that everyone shows you in pictures of Thailand? Our recommendations are here!

Nai Harn beach - Nai Harn beach

Nai Haren
Nai Haren

Nai Haren beach is a beautiful beach located in the southwest of the island. It is considered one of the most beautiful beaches, and is popular among tourists and locals alike.

The tourists who usually come to this area are mostly digital nomads, people who love everything related to Valence and in general, people who want to relax and enjoy the peace. The beach is not one of the longest in Phuket, on the left side of it you can see a spectacular connection of the lake of Nai Harn which connects to the sea and creates such a natural pool that is fun to wade in. It is the southernmost side of the beach, it is adjacent to the rocks and has a special beauty that brings people to it to do meditation, yoga on the beach and acro yoga.

The atmosphere is very young and free, people play volleyball, soccer there and don't disturb each other.

On the beach itself you can find quiet corners where you can sit on your mat and also smoothie stands that also offer beach chairs and umbrellas for 100 baht per chair or umbrella. The prices are very affordable for all types of drinks. If you also want to eat, the stands on the beach itself do not offer food, but within a very short walking distance there are restaurants that offer Thai and Western food, and a nice cafe.

Nai Haran is a very sought-after area for living, after the corona virus, people started moving to Phuket to live and the prices of housing in this area have increased greatly, the area offers luxury villas with a pool, shared residential complexes and the prices do not drop from 80 thousand baht per month for rent (about NIS 8,000) For a house with 3 bedrooms and a pool. Although the value you will get is very high quality, these prices are still considered very expensive in Thailand and Nai Harn is one of the most expensive residential areas on the island.

Freedom Beach - freedom beach

A beach that is a hidden gem!

Located on the southwest coast of the island, this beach is a bit of a local secret, accessible only by boat or trek through the forest.

There is a steeper and more challenging part and there is a more orderly path with stairs that lead to the beach. In this part there is a charge of 100 baht per person.

I of course went down there on the steep road, in the jungle and it took me 20 minutes to reach the beach. On the way I saw running water which is nice, there is a lot of shade (which is not so much in the more orderly part with the stairs) and I also came across huge wild boars!ֿ

They don't do anything but it is recommended not to approach them and just keep walking.

For me personally, it was especially challenging to return that it was an ascent and I also didn't come with sneakers, I came with flip flops and that was a terrible mistake.

So if you're adventurous and fancy a different beach experience, I recommend you go the steep way, it's a unique experience and in terms of the heat - it's better! Just please stock up on water, sports shoes, mosquito spray and a hat won't hurt either.

As soon as you reach the beach, a crazy view opens up!

White and soft sand, completely turquoise water and no waves! The beach is small, only a few meters long, there is a smoothie stand with a few mats and an umbrella and that's it!

On the right side of the beach you can cross some rocks and reach a secluded and beautiful corner.

Since there is only one very small drinking stand, it is recommended to come equipped with plenty of drinks and food because there is nothing to eat there.

Kata beach - kata beach

Kata Beach is located on the southwest side of the island, just above Nai Haren Beach.

The beach is divided into two:

Kata Noi- The longest and busiest part of the beach.

Kata Yai- The smaller and quieter part of the beach that is not too busy and where you can rest away from all the noise.

Kata Noi Beach is one of the busiest beaches in Phuket in the hot season! And don't be told otherwise!

This is the favorite beach for surfers, the sea is full of surfers, you can hardly see sand from most of the people. Mostly young people but you can also find lots of young families with small children and babies.

The beach offers a fun atmosphere, of freedom and exoticism, you can find all kinds of water sports there, rent surfboards and SUPs, kayaks, and of course you will also find restaurants, cafes where you can watch the sunsets or just look at the stunning beach.

From time to time surfer festivals are held on the boardwalk and the place is filled with people, a young atmosphere, shows, full of food and drink stalls and of course cannabis and clothing stalls.

Those who want to come will have to park their car relatively far away and walk or take a tuk tuk that arrives very close.

The only hotel that is right on the beach and sits along its entire length is none other than הClub Med Resort.

For those who can afford it - I highly recommend it, a stunning hotel and the area is a bomb! And it is one of the few hotels that offers an all-inclusive stay!

In addition to the stunning beach, there are several other interesting things to do in the area, such as:

  1. Bars that offer vantage points to watch the sunset
  2. A stunning temple called   Wat Kitti Sangkharam
  3. And a very interesting and large night market called - Naka night market This is one of the biggest night markets in Phuket.

Karon beach - karon beach

Caron
Caron

Karon Beach, located along Phuket's western coastline, stretches for about 3 kilometers and is known for its soft, powdery sand and clear waters. With a gradual slope to the sea, it offers safe and inviting swimming conditions.

The beach is a popular spot for water activities such as snorkelling, parasailing and jet skiing, attracting tourists and locals alike. Karon Beach is also known for its amazing sunset views, making it a great location for evening walks. Unlike other beaches in Phuket, Karon Beach offers a wide boardwalk and it is generally an area with sidewalks that is comfortable to walk and walk with children and strollers.

Phuket is known as an island without sidewalks, and if you are people who like to walk or have a baby in a stroller, you will know that Karon is an excellent area to spend the night in terms of comfort and quiet.

The area boasts a variety of accommodation options, from luxury resorts to low-budget guesthouses. I highly recommend this hotel to families - Buses Phuket Arcadia Karon Beach Resort It is right on the beach and very comfortable and pampering with children.

In addition, the beach is surrounded by a variety of restaurants, offering a combination of local Thai cuisine and international dishes. The best Pad Thai restaurant in Phuket is in Karon and is called – The phad thai shop, a simple working class restaurant that is always full of people. You will have to wait patiently in line, but the dishes are worth every moment of the wait! Excellent prices - a very satisfying Pad Thai dish at a cost of only 60 baht!

Karon Beach provides a more relaxed atmosphere compared to nearby Patong Beach, making it a favorite destination for those looking for a quieter beach experience while still having access to basic amenities and entertainment options.

Patong beach - Patong beach

Patong is the most vibrant and most visited area in Phuket.

Its beach stretches over 3.5 kilometers and the water is not the clearest there is because of all the water sports that are done there. If you fancy beach parties, a young atmosphere of freedom, jet skis, parachutes and more there you will find all this and in abundance!

Patong Beach is a hub for nightlife, with many bars, clubs and entertainment venues along its main thoroughfare, Bangla Street.

Tourists can find a variety of accommodations, from budget guesthouses to luxury resorts. Patong is very popular among tourists in general and especially among the Israeli tourist because of the Chabad house located there and a whole street that offers restaurants and different agencies of attractions for the Israeli tourist.

Israelis who keep Shabbat usually sleep in a hotel Mövenpick which is just a few meters from the Chabad house.

You will also find two popular and large shopping malls in Patong-

Jungle Cyclone

Central Patong

Two malls that offer international stores of various brands, restaurants, cafes and playgrounds for children.

Phuket's largest and most popular shopping mall is located in the Kato area and is called

central festival And it is connected to another mall that is right across the road and it is more prestigious with brands like Chanel and Dior and it is called central floresta.

For people who love Thai culture and want to experience it beyond all the shopping and beaches, I highly recommend going to see a Muay Thai fight which is traditional Thai boxing.

PATONG BOXING STADIUM- You can order online In this link <

Open on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays, the fight starts at 21:00 p.m

The price ranges from 1,500 baht to 1,800 baht depending on the area you choose to sit (you also get a shirt as a gift if you sit in the more expensive area)

Kamala beach - kamala beach

Kamala Beach
Kamala Beach

Oh how I love Kamala's area! When we first arrived in Phuket we stayed at Kamala Bay Air B&B and it was perfect!

A quieter area, located towards the north of the island, about ten minutes from Patong and if you want to spend the night in this area you can enjoy spectacular views because most of the hotels and accommodations are on cliffs overlooking the ocean.

Accommodation options in Kamala range from mid-range hotels to luxury resorts, giving you the flexibility to choose what suits your travel style. And if you are traveling with the family, the cultural amusement park Phuket FantaSea The neighborhood offers a unique entertainment experience, perfect for small children and adults alike! (Tickets can be purchased at the link)

It is impossible to talk about Kamala without mentioning the iconic resort located in this area - Keemala Resort.

Tucked away in the lush forests near Kamala Beach, the resort offers a truly unique stay away from the typical hotel experience.

It includes a variety of amazing villas, each of which is designed to represent different indigenous cultures of Phuket - from the Khmer huts of the 'Pa-Te-Apa' tribe to the tent-style residences of the 'Khon-Jorn' people. These villas are not only beautifully designed but also equipped with modern facilities to ensure a comfortable stay. The resort's architecture blends harmoniously with the natural surroundings, creating an immersive experience that takes you away from the usual hustle and bustle. The infinity pool overlooking the Andaman Sea is the highlight, offering a peaceful space to relax.

It is important to note that the aforementioned resort is a luxury resort, offering restaurants that serve a fusion of local and international cuisine at a high level and also a pampering spa.

Another well-known place that cannot be skipped is theCafe del Mar cafe del mar.

A luxurious and impressive beach club sitting on Kamala beach, it has a pool and a bar and everyone is there.

Do you know the atmosphere in Miami? So like this!

During the day there are pool parties and in the evening a different DJ is brought every time to keep the atmosphere going.

If you are into Latin music then I highly recommend Thursday evenings, there is an excellent Brazilian DJ and a great atmosphere!

There is a selector at the entrance who makes sure to dress appropriately (at least in the evening) keep in mind that it is very luxurious and you should come dressed accordingly even though it is on the beach.

The prices of the drinks and food are more expensive than usual and for more popular seating areas such as those close to the pool they ask for a minimum payment per table (depending on the table but about 5000 baht).

I don't really recommend going there with small children, especially not with babies. The music is loud and the pool is always full of people, get a babysitter and go enjoy yourself.

One of the things I appreciated about Kamala Beach is its local character.

Along the main road, you will come across seafood restaurants, cozy beach bars and small shops that add a touch of authenticity to the experience. It's a great place to try some local flavors and enjoy a leisurely meal with a view.

Finally, if you want to go on a relaxing vacation with spectacular views, a less crowded beach and good food - Kamala is the place for you!

Surin beach - surin beach

Surin Beach Phuket Thailand
Surin Beach Phuket Thailand

Absolutely my favorite beach in Phuket in the hot season!!!

I will tell you that the distance of my house from Surin Beach is about 40 minutes by car! But I don't give up this amazing beach in the hot season and I'll tell you why.

The beach itself is about a five minute drive from Kamala beach, the beach itself is quiet and not crowded at all, you will mostly see young families or couples there but very, very few. The water is like a turquoise pool, clean water and pleasant white sand that is very fun to sit on.

On the boardwalk itself there are stalls of smoothies, delicious shawarma and several other stalls of local and western foods such as hamburgers and hot dogs as well as stalls of clothing and beach products.

On the beach itself there are not many places to sit with chairs and beds or umbrellas. You can rent an umbrella and a chair or bring your own (you can buy an umbrella in the supermarket for 300 baht = about NIS 30) and there are also no shaded places so I highly recommend coming equipped.

And despite what I mentioned - it's still the most worthwhile beach in my eyes! We always arrive equipped and spend hours there.

The more you encrypt, the more calm and peace you get. The busiest parts of the island are from Kamala and below with most of the traffic concentrated in Patong.

Tourists often miss the northern areas of the island so the area remains pristine and more reserved for those who live on the island. Take advantage of this fact if you want to escape from the noise and chaos. As someone who lives in Phuket, I can say that at first I was very enthusiastic about Patong and the more crowded places, but over time I started looking for our corner as a family, cleaner and quieter places, so we explored the island in depth and found some corners that remained virgin. This of course depends on the nature of the traveler, the status and how long he has on the island. As I mentioned before, Phuket is a very big island, to get most of it you need to devote time to it.

Bang Tao Beach - bang tao beach

Bang Tao Phuket
Bang Tao Phuket

I don't want to just overload you with information about every beach here because it won't end, I'll just give a few small words about this beach so that if you complained in the lagoon area in the north of the island you'll know that there are also beautiful beaches there.

Bang Tao Beach is a beach that has mostly, if not only, locals. And when I say locals I also mean Thais but mostly foreigners who live here on the island.

Older people, those who may have retired and live in this area. Bang Tao and the lagoon area are very impressive residential areas. There are mainly very prestigious villas, luxury complexes and if you want to live in this area you will part with a minimum of 100,000 baht per month (about NIS 10,000) and that is the minimum, right?

The advantage of this area for families is that everything is there and there is no need to travel far for shopping at a supermarket, mall, and even the airport is about ten minutes or fifteen minutes away.

The beaches are very beautiful, and in general the atmosphere is very different and gives a feeling of a better quality of life. The most regarded international school on the island is in this area and it is called Bis-British International School and that will be for another article.

Mai Khao Beach - mai khao beach

Mai Khao Beach
Mai Khao Beach

We finally arrived at Mai Khao Beach!

Mai Khao Beach is the longest beach in Phuket, stretching for about 11 kilometers.

One of the unique features of Mai Khao Beach is its proximity to Sirinat National Park and Phuket International Airport. From November to February, the beach also becomes a nesting ground for sea turtles, and conservation efforts are underway to protect these vulnerable creatures.

There are very pampering resorts on the beach and those who come to spend the night there definitely need peace and quiet and are not looking for all the craziness of the island at all.

The highlight of this beach is beyond the fact that it is so isolated and quiet, that you can choose where to be and no matter which part you choose, you will always find your calm, under a coconut tree, or next to some abandoned boat. The beach, as I mentioned, is adjacent to Phuket International Airport and in good weather the planes land right above your head!

People come from all over Thailand to take pictures with the planes as they land. I was there!

I saw professional photographers arrive with models, definitely an experience!

One of the most impressive beaches in Phuket mainly because of its virginity.

So in conclusion - have you arrived in Phuket? Don't you want to be stuck on the same beach the whole vacation? Go explore the amazing and unique beaches the island has to offer and don't forget sunscreen, a hat and lots of water!

Swadika and until next time!
