Recommendations after a trip to Barcelona

I got a lot of help from the tips of the group members and it's time to give back..

A recommended hotel to take in the Ramblas area. I took a hotel called Catalonia Ramblas Hotel which was really good.

Google maps - I made a list with all the interesting sites and it gives an idea of the distance between the different sites, i.e. which sites are close to each other and can be combined into one trip.

Tour with Barcelona - I was on a tour about Gaudi and the modernist. Adi the guide was professional and charming and gave us lots of tips for the rest of the trip in the city. I joined their WhatsApp group and there they also give a lot of tips and answer questions. The tour starts at Gaudi's famous houses and ends at the Sagrada Familia. recommended!

The tourist bus - I think it is recommended to do it on the first or second day of the trip. The ticket is valid for 24 hours. There are two routes, red and blue. You can get off and get on again in the places you choose. On the red route you should get off at Montjuic station and take a cable car called teleferic up to the castle, and walk back to the station. Halfway back there is a stunning view towards the port. On the blue route, I think you should get off at the Modernista hospital sant pau station and enter the museum (costs 16 euros and you can buy tickets on the website in advance). I really liked the architecture and the gardens. You can forgo the audio guide (an extra 3 euros which was unnecessary in my opinion), it is also impressive from the outside if you don't want to go inside.

Gaudi Park - You have to buy tickets at least two days in advance, otherwise they sell out. I saw people who came without buying in advance and couldn't get in. I think you can devote no more than an hour and a half to it. The truth is that it impressed me less than Gaudi's other houses.. In the middle of the park there are facilities for children. In my opinion, to reach it in the morning and from there you should continue on foot to a place called Vila da Gracia, takes about 20 minutes with Google maps, it's a really nice area with restaurants, boutique shops and bars, then go to Gaudi's house called casa vicens. A few minutes walk with google map of course.. then return by metro to the city center.

Arc de Triomphe- Another route I planned and it was really successful: take the metro to the Triumphal Arch, from there continue through the Ciutadella Park to the El Born neighborhood with boutique shops, restaurants and museums. The Moco Museum of Modern Art was really successful and I think it is also suitable for children and teenagers. The Gothic quarter is also not far from there, I did it another day.

Portal de langels shopping boulevard A beautiful avenue of shops. It is recommended to go from there to the Palace of Music - Palau de la musica - a very beautiful building from the outside. There are also paid visits, only in the morning. I haven't been so I don't know if it's worth entering. In the evening they have music shows and flamenco shows that look really good (not every day, I think mostly on Sundays).

walking on the boulevards - Go down the street to the maritime museum and the statue of Columbus and if you want you can go to the port and then return by public transport.

kosher food- I would like to recommend a catering called "taim". They have a website where you can order to the hotel at a delivery cost of 10 euros and there is the option of self-collection. the food is delicious. I corresponded with them on WhatsApp (to the number that appears on the website), they are very available and answered my questions and special requests.

Maccabi Hachshara Restaurant- Excellent location, tasty or not - it depends on what you order. We sat with friends and some of the dishes were tasty and some less so. The chicken breast was better in my opinion.

Monday's falafel- Another kosher option that I didn't have time to try because they close relatively early. Once I came at 4 o'clock and it was already closed.

Tax refund in Barcelona - You should shop with a photo of your passport or a photo of it on your cell phone (you don't need the passport itself) and ask the saleswoman at the store if they have tax free. Not all stores have it but it's worth asking. At the airport itself you have to scan the paperwork you received before sending the suitcase. There are two options here - cash and credit. For the credit you have to download an app or continue with the paperwork and I had no patience. I want to warn against the cash option, which seemed more convenient to me, but in retrospect it turned out not to be!! I came with the scanned paperwork to Change where they told me to go and they really tried to cheat me: for a tax refund of 12 euros they wanted to give me 100 shekels on the grounds that they could not give euros and had little money and that I would pay them back about 26 euros. At first I really couldn't understand what was going on and I tried to argue with them and they were really unpleasant to say the least. Then they offered me 50 shekels and that I return them 7 euros, and that there is nothing to do, the conversion rate is 2.8. At this point I already gave up and said I would go for the credit option and then suddenly they immediately gave me the money in euros... real liars!! So beware of them and also avoid currency exchange at the airport. I continued to the terminal with a terrible headache. It's a real shame because one of the stores gave me a tax refund of less than 5 euros and for it I had to download an app, and during the luggage queue I filled in the details and when I arrived in Israel I already received the refund. So simple and convenient! The app is called traveler wallet. You need to take a photo of the passport and fill in details and credit card details.
