A one-week travel plan in the Eastern Switzerland region

 

Thursday 29.6/XNUMX: Lake and Allen area:

You will start the morning by driving towards the town of Betlis which is on the shores of a lake Walensee Lake, one of the most beautiful lakes in Switzerland. The journey time to parking in the town from the B&B where you are staying is an hour and a quarter.

Seerenbach Falls

The town of Betlis (Betlis) is a town free of cars, and getting around is on foot. From the town you will go on a trip to the highest waterfall in Switzerland - Seerenbach Falls.

Please note that the drive to the parking lot is on a narrow road, and sometimes there may be a traffic jam in the area.

After parking the car, you will go for a walk to Seerenbach Falls, a walk that will take you between 45 minutes and an hour in each direction. The route is very organized and you will see signs all along the way, and it goes through the town houses, next to a beautiful view of Lake Valen. At the end of the route you will reach a beautiful view of the waterfalls, which are actually three waterfalls that fall from a height of 600 meters. After the observation you will return back to the vehicle, the same way you came, next to magical views of the Blue Lake.

It is recommended to stock up on water and food for the trip, because there are no places to buy food.

The town of Weesen:

From the parking lot, you will drive about 10 minutes to the town of Weesen, a charming town that lies on the shores of Lake Valen.

After parking the car, you can walk around the town and discover its interesting sites: 

Valen Lake: The parking lot is next to the shores of the blue Valen Lake, and you can bathe in the cool lake water, go on a boat ride or enjoy the atmosphere and views.

When you enter the city streets you will discover the old town of Weesen, a beautiful historical area with well-preserved medieval buildings, narrow streets and charming squares. It is the perfect place to travel and soak up the local history and culture.

The mountain slide FLOOMZER summer toboggan run

After the visit to the town of Weesen and lunch, you will continue to an experience full of adrenaline and fun. The drive to the slide parking lot will take about 40 minutes and is full of beautiful and green landscapes. 

When you get to the parking lot, you will buy tickets for alpine slides, which are mountain slides that go down the mountain. After parking, you will board a 4-seater chair train that will take you to the beginning of the track, from where you will go down a 2 km long slide track.

Evening entertainment - the town of Bad Ragaz and baths:

After spending time on the slides, you will drive about half an hour to the town Bad Ragaz, which is located in the Heideland region, the region that inspired the children's story Heidi the Mountaineer. You can wander among the magical village houses and among the pleasant shops in the town.

In town, finish your evening atTamina Therme Spa, a thermal spa known for its healing thermal waters that come from a nearby water channel. The water is at a temperature of 36.5 degrees Celsius and is rich in minerals, which makes it perfect for health and relaxation treatments.

On weekends (Saturday or Sunday) a two-hour ticket costs 40 Swiss francs for an adult over 17, and 20 Swiss francs for under 17.

On mid-week days, a two-hour ticket costs 33 Swiss francs for an adult over 17, and 17 Swiss francs for those under that age.

Friday 30.6/XNUMX: Mount Titlis and the city of Lucerne

Welcome to one of the most beautiful days of the trip. Today is the day with the longest drive, but it is worth every kilometer you drive.

You will start the morning with a two and a half hour drive to Mount Titlis

Mount Titlis (Titlis):

Mount Titlis is considered one of the popular destinations in the country, a mountain rising to a height of 3,238 meters. 

The mountain contains the world's first rotating cable car, a cable car that rotates around itself during the ascent and provides spectacular panoramic views of rocks and cliffs, valleys and distant snow-covered mountain peaks.

When you arrive at the site, you will purchase tickets for the cable car, and go out to discover the mountain which is full of wonderful experiences. Pay attention to purchase a cable car ticket to the highest peak - Titlis peak.

On top of the mountain you will find a host of wonderful experiences and attractions:

TITLIS Cliff Walk: One of the highlights of the visit is the cliff walk, which starts at the highest point of the mountain, 3,041 meters above sea level, 500 meters from the ground, and it will take you to a track on a bridge suspended in the air. On the route you will pass through a glacier cave with breathtaking views of the surrounding snowy mountains. The ascent to the bridge is included in the price of the cable car.

The glacier cave: In the magical mountain you will find a turquoise ice cave, where there is a 150 meter long walking path that goes underground. Note that the temperature inside the glacier is below 0 degrees!

TITLIS GLACIER PARK: In the summer months you can find real snow at the top of the mountain, which invites you to rent skis and go on a wonderful adventure.

Hiking trails: on the summit of Mount Titlis you will find many and varied hiking trails adapted to different levels. Upon entering the website, you will receive a map (you can also request it in Hebrew/Arabic), with information about the walking routes. It is recommended to check at the entrance which routes are open due to weather conditions. 

TRÜBSEE ADVENTURE: a variety of free facilities that include cute trampolines and tightrope walking, with guides accompanying the experience.

TRÜBSEE FLYER ZIPLINE: An action-packed omega where you will slide 500 meters to the mountain's lake. The omega can be done in pairs, next to each other. The price of the Omega is 12 Swiss francs for one per Omega. You can buy a ticket at the Omega box office.

SCOOTER BIKE: You can rent electric bikes with which you can go on beautiful cycling routes with a magical mountain view. The bikes can be purchased at the entrance ticket office and there they will explain to you the starting point.

Boat rental in Trübsee lake: in the mountain complex is Lake Trübsee, a beautiful lake where you can take a short cruise in rowboats. Each boat has room for up to four people, and life jackets are also provided. The boats are available for free use.

Visiting Mount Titlis (Titlis) - important information:

Cable car opening hours: 8:30-17:00. Last ascent to the cable car at 16:00 p.m.

The price of the cable car: an adult aged 16 and over - 96 Swiss francs round trip, a child up to the age of 15 will pay 48 Swiss francs round trip.

On the site you will also find restaurants and cafes where you can have lunch.

Note that it is very cold at the top, and it is recommended to have warm clothing.

The city of Luzern (Luzern):

After the visit to the top of the mountain you will start moving back to the accommodation area, stopping on the way in the magical city of Lucerne. The city of Lucerne is a 40-minute drive from Mount Titlis.

The visit to the city of Lucerne began in the main street of the old town, Weggisgasse, where you will find shops, boutiques and cafes. The old city is full of beautiful narrow streets, and you can walk around the center of the magical city.

Afterwards, make your way to the Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke), An iconic symbol of Lucerne and one of the oldest wooden bridges in Europe. The bridge is particularly notable for its interior paintings depicting events from Lucerne's history, and is a great place for a family photo.

Take a short walk to the Lion Monument (Löwendenkmal), which is located in a small park that is worth exploring.

The Rhine Falls (Rheinfall):

Your day begins with a drive to the Rhine Falls, the largest waterfall in Europe and one of the most popular tourist sites in Switzerland. The falls are located in the northern part of Switzerland, and are 150 meters wide and 23 meters high. The flow of water in them can reach up to 600,000 liters per second, which makes the spectacle an impressive and spectacular sight.

After the stormy cruise and when you feel that you have exhausted the area of ​​the impressive waterfalls, you will take a short drive of about 20 minutes to the beautiful town Stone at the Rhein, which is located on the banks of the Rhine River.

Sunday 2.7: mountain slides, tour of the chocolate factory and the city of St. Gallen:

You will start the morning with a 45-minute drive north to the Kronberg Bobbahn, an alpine slide that offers a wonderful ride with a beautiful view of the green mountains of Switzerland. The slides can be done alone or in pairs.

Monday 3.7/XNUMX: Tor waterfall, the summit of Mount Santis and the city of Appenzell

You will start the morning with a short drive of about 5 minutes to the center of the town where you are staying, the town of Alt St. Johann, where you will take a short route to a beautiful waterfall.

The route leaves from the heart of the town, and it takes about 20 minutes in each direction, until you reach a beautiful view of the magical waterfall. You can buy groceries at the supermarket in the center of the town and have a picnic on the path leading to the waterfall or at the observation side of the waterfall.

The walk to the waterfall is an easy and well controlled walk.

The summit of Mount Säntis:

After you return satisfied and happy from the lovely view of the waterfall, you will go on a trip of about 30 minutes until you reach the parking lot of the cable car that will take you to the summit of Mount Santis, which many call the most beautiful mountain in Switzerland.

When you arrive at the complex, after buying the tickets, you will go up in a huge cable car to the summit of Santis Mountain, the highest mountain in the area. The trip to the top is an experience in itself, when you will be exposed to spectacular views of rocks and mountains. You will reach the summit, which is at an altitude of 2,500 meters, in about 10 minutes.

From the spectacular summit you can see no less than 6 countries - France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Liechtenstein and Switzerland.

At the top there is also a restaurant where you can enjoy a spectacular panoramic view alongside a meal or a refreshing drink.

If you want, you can go on a short hike between the wonderful mountain peaks. The peak of the mountain offers several hiking trails of varying degrees of difficulty and length. 

There you will also find an exhibition that deals with ice and snow, an exhibition called "Ice World", where you will learn about snow crystals and glaciers.

After spending time in nature, it's time to get back to city life a little, and you'll take a 25-minute drive to the magical city of Appenzell.

Tuesday 4.7/XNUMX: Lake Zurich area:

The city of Rapperswil:

You will start the day with a drive of about an hour to the city of Ruppersville, a beautiful historical town located at the eastern end of Lake Zurich. In the town you will find picturesque views and many activities worth exploring.

The visit to the town that lies on the shores of the lake began at Rappersville Castle (Rapperswil Castle). It is not necessary to go inside the castle, but come to be impressed by the charming structure that is located next to the lake. 

Next to the castle you will find the Rose gardens (Rosengarten), which contain more than 15,000 types of roses that bloom in the spring and summer seasons.

Alpamare is the largest indoor water park in Europe and is a popular destination for families, offering a wide variety of attractions for both children and adults. 

In the magical park you will find a total of 12 slides with a total length of 2,100 meters. Among the popular slides we can mention the Crasta Canyon (a fast and exciting slide), a pool with a flowing river where you can float and relax, and a variety of indoor and outdoor thermal baths. 

For those who want to relax, the complex offers health facilities such as a sauna, hammam and massages for an additional fee. There is also a fitness center where you will find strength and aerobic equipment.

The complex is considered a paradise for families with children, who can spend an entire day there.

If you finish your visit to the water park and see that there are still hours of daylight and you have more energy, you can go to discover the Pfäffikersee lake, a hidden lake that is about half an hour's drive from the water park.
