After collecting the car, at 10:00, start with a drive of about an hour to the city of Lucerne, one of the most picturesque cities in Switzerland, a city that lies at the foot of snowy mountains and next to the beautiful Lake Lucerne. The city is considered a must-visit site in the country, and it is the first site you will visit on the first day of your trip outside of Zurich. We start in the old city

The visit to the city of Lucerne began in the main street of the old city, St Weggisgasse, where you will find shops, boutiques and cafes. The old city is full of beautiful narrow streets, and you can walk around the center of the magical city.

From there, Continue to the Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke), An iconic wooden bridge that has become a symbol of the historic city. A panoramic road

From the city of Lucerne, you will start driving towards the town of Interlaken, in the vicinity of which we live, when on the way you will pass several spectacular stops, the first of which is Lake Lungernsee. Before you enter the town itself and you can enjoy a coffee in its cafes, stop at a spectacular observation point:

A beautiful mountain pass that connects two spectacular peaks. The mountain pass is a valley point located at an altitude of 1000 meters. Stop at the mountain pass, park on the side of the road and enjoy the spectacular view along it.

Evening: the town of Interlaken

In the evening, you will arrive at the magical town of Interlaken, the town of your star trip. An amazingly beautiful town located between Lake Thun and Lake Brinz, two of the most beautiful lakes in the country. With its stunning alpine surroundings, the town acts as a gateway to the Jungfrau region and offers plenty of activities and mesmerizing sights. 

Stroll down the town's main street, Höheweg Street, a beautiful boulevard that boasts watch shops, Swiss chocolate shops, hotels and many restaurants. Don't forget to try fondue or raclette! The street also offers a direct view of Jungfrau Mountain, making it a picturesque place.

The main square of the town is called Marktplatz Interlaken, A great place to experience the local atmosphere, purchase souvenirs or enjoy regional cuisine.

If you have enough, visit as well at Interlaken Castle, which is also known as 'Schloss Interlaken', an ancient castle which itself is closed to visitors, but its outer gardens are open to visitors.

18.10- Wednesday- Omega, Staubbach Falls, Trummelbach falls, Harder Kulm lookout:

Omega First Flyer:

They started the morning with a 30-minute drive from the area Interlaken to the lower cable car station of Omega First Flyer, the number one Omega in Switzerland. This is a crazy and exciting adventure in which you will glide along 800 meters at a speed of up to 84 km/h, all over breathtaking views of mountain peaks and mesmerizing valleys. The Omega contains 4 cables, so you can surf together side by side. The Omega is undoubtedly considered one of the pearls of Switzerland, One of the most adventurous and popular experiences in the area. 

You will reach the experience using a cable car called Firstbahn AG, which departs from the village of Grindelwald. From the cable car, you will take a 25-minute panoramic ride to the First Peak. A journey that offers mesmerizing and breathtaking views. 

After getting off the cable car at the First peak, you will find signs and paths that lead you to various attractions. The First Flyer is a short walk from the station.

The Omega operates every day of the week between 10:00 and 16:30.

The cost of the Omega is CHF 31 per participant, the cost of the cable car is CHF 64 round trip.

It is recommended to purchase a ticket that includes both cable car and gondola rides at a price of 74 CHF each.

After the Omega, you can hike to the top of First Mountain before taking the cable car back down. You can choose from a number of wonderful attractions, including a spectacular walking route called First Cliff Walk by Tissot, a walking path along a cliff with a panoramic view. The trail includes a 40-meter suspension bridge, an observation platform, and a glass-floored platform that offers breathtaking views.

In addition, you can find a host of other attractions (for a fee) at the top of the mountain, including windsurfing or all-terrain scooters. 

After exploring the lovely viewpoints and walking trails, you can return back to the cable car and go back down.

The parking lot is about a 5-minute walk from the cable car.

Trummelbach falls:

From there, a 30-minute drive will take you to Trommelbach Falls, hidden within the mountainous terrain of the Lauterbrunnen Valley, a unique series of waterfalls pouring out of melting glacial water. The water cuts through the rock and creates eddies, waterfalls and amazing formations..

The special waterfalls offer one of the most unique waterfall experiences in the world, and they are considered the only ones in Europe that are inside a mountain and are still accessible to visitors. 

When approaching the site, even before the entrance, the muffled roar of the waterfalls provides a hint of the powerful forces of nature that work within the mountain. These waterfalls are, in fact, a group of ten waterfalls that drain the mighty glaciers of the famous trio of mountains: Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Together, they flow up to 20,000 liters of water per second.

Upon entering, a tunnel lift can be used to reach the upper parts of the falls. As you pass through the tunnels, staircases and dim viewing platforms, you will be treated to amazing sights of water making its way through force, creating thunderous sounds and spraying mists that refresh every visitor. Along the way you will find different platforms that provide a breathtaking view. 

It is recommended to wear good shoes because the tracks can be wet and slippery. Also, the temperature inside the falls is noticeably cool, and you should be equipped accordingly.

The falls are reached through a combination of a tunnel lift and a network of staircases and paths. The entire loop through the falls, including stops at various platforms to view the falls, usually takes about an hour to 1.5 hours.

Staubbach Falls

On your way back you will pass the Staubach Falls, located in the picturesque Lauterbrunnen Valley, within the town where you will have lunch. The falls are considered one of the most amazing waterfalls in Switzerland, falling majestically from a height of almost 300 meters. As you get closer, the cascade of mists emanating from the falls envelops the surroundings and creates a magical atmosphere. A short path leads visitors close to the falls, allowing for a captivating experience especially after heavy rain or in the early morning hours when the flow is at its strongest.

Option for the evening: Harder Kulm lookout

If you haven't had your fill of today, and you feel like a full and intense day of travel, and to watch an amazing sunset, you've come to the right place.

The Harder Kulm lookout takes you to the top of a mountain located 1,322 meters above sea level, a mountain that offers a mesmerizing view of the towns below, the surrounding peaks and the spectacular lakes.  

From the observation platform located at the cable car station, you will be treated to 360 degree views of Interlaken, the two lakes (Lake Thun and Lake Brienz), and the trio of Alpine peaks - Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.

At the observation point you will also find a restaurant named  Panorama Restaurant Harder Kulm, which offers delicious Swiss food alongside breathtaking views.

Various hiking trails start from the observation point, from easy and short ones to more challenging ones. You can get a map at the site's box offices that will show you the trip options.

How to get there: the ascent to the spectacular observation point is from a cable car, which is right next to the town of Interlaken.

19.10- Thursday- St. Caves Beatus Caves, Thun lake, Thun town and baths

St. Beatus Caves (St. Beatus-Höhlen)

 You will start the morning with a short drive of about 15 minutes to the St. Beatus-Höhlen caves, spectacular stalactite caves that attract travelers from all over the world.

The caves are named after St. Beatus, an Irish monk who, according to legend, arrived in the area in the 6th century, and according to legend, defeated a cruel dragon so that he could live in the caves. 

The caves offer a kilometer of lighted trails where you walk through amazing stalagmites and stalagmites, sparkling crystal formations and waterfalls flowing inside the mountain. The tour presents the power of nature and the passage of time, all highlighted by strategic and beautiful lighting.

The caves maintain a constant temperature of around 9 degrees Celsius throughout the year, so it is advisable to have a warming jacket. Outside the caves, the panoramic views of Lake Thun and the surrounding mountains are breathtaking.

The town of Spitz

From the spectacular caves, you will take a 25-minute drive to the magical town of Spiez, a beautiful town located on the shores of the spectacular Lake Thun. Already during the trip you will be exposed to the beauty of the magical lake. The beauty of the town, which is surrounded by the beautiful lake, lush vineyards and surrounding mountains, make it a favorite destination among locals and tourists alike.

Your first site in town will be Spiez Castle, which is about a 15-minute walk from the parking lot. This castle is a historic castle that dominates the skyline of Spitz and provides a journey through different periods of Switzerland's history. 

The castle itself is not very interesting, so you don't have to visit it, but the views you are immersed in are undoubtedly breathtaking.

If the castle gardens are open to adults, take a walk in the carefully maintained gardens. They offer a peaceful environment with a panoramic view of Lake Thun and the surrounding mountains.

The castle is open to visitors between 10:00 and 17:00.

From there, take a leisurely stroll along Thun Lake. The view of the lake against the background of the Alps is nothing short of breathtaking. Along the path you will find many benches, in case you want to sit and soak up the peace for a moment.

Located right next to the lake, this restaurant offers an excellent selection of Swiss dishes. The highlight is not only the food but also the spectacular view. You can dine in the open air if the weather permits and enjoy the atmosphere by the lake.

And before you get back to the car, walk up the hill towards the vineyards. Even if you don't go deep into the vineyard terraces, the lookout points provide a unique perspective of the town and the lake below.

the town of Thun

From there, continue driving for about 20 minutes to the city of Thun, which is considered one of the most beautiful cities in all of Switzerland. The town is mostly famous for its historic old town, the beautiful views of the lake and the surrounding mountains.

Schloss Thun

Start your visit to the town at the beautiful Thun Castle, which is located on a hill. To get to the castle you take a short elevator. At the top, you will find a breathtaking view (free). You can enter the castle museum and explore its historical spaces for the sum of 10 Swiss francs per person (entry is not required). The castle offers a panoramic view of the city, the Ara river and the surrounding mountains.

After the panoramic view, you will set out to discover the beauty of the old town of Thun, while exploring its amazing and historical streets.

Visit On the Obere Hauptgasse pedestrian street and on the street Untere Hauptgasse, the main streets of the old city. The unique elevated sidewalks, known as "Lauben", run on both sides of the main road and feature a variety of shops, cafes and boutiques. These sidewalks were once used to protect pedestrians from rain and snow.

Between the two streets you will find the Rathausplatz, a central square in the old city, this is where the town hall of Thun is located. The square often hosts markets and local events.

Continue to the bridge Untere Schleuse Brücke, a picturesque wooden bridge that offers spectacular views of the river and the historic wooden structure. 

The bridge will lead you to a small island with a central pedestrian street called Bälliz with cafes, shops and restaurants. From the small island you can enjoy walking on the banks of the magical river.

Don't miss the square Mühleplatz, a lively square lined with restaurants, cafes and bars. In the evenings, this place often comes alive with locals and tourists alike coming to enjoy a wonderful meal. In the square you will find the Chillounge GmbH restaurant, an excellent local restaurant. 

Evening option: Solbad BEATUS spa

There is no more delightful way to end a day full of autumn trips with pampering baths, and you also have an excellent opportunity to enjoy delightful baths. These are artificial baths that contain hot water, massage options, spa baths, hot pools and many other treats.

The entrance fee ranges from 30 to 45 Swiss francs per person, depending on the time and the package you purchase.

From the baths, a 20-minute drive to the Interlaken city area, from the city of Thun directly, the drive will take about 35 minutes.

 

20.10- Friday- Aare Gorge Mall, Mount Pilatus and return to the city of Zurich

Aare Gorge Mall:

You will start the morning with a 35-minute drive to the Aare River Gorge, an amazing natural wonder located in the Swiss Alps, near the village of Meiringen. The Arera River carved this narrow channel into the limestone rocks over thousands of years, creating a dramatic landscape, one that is expressed in a mile and a half long route that runs along the length of the amazing river channel. The walk is carried out along the length of the river on narrow wooden bridges, the width of which in some places reaches only one meter, with cliffs rising to a height of up to 50 meters on both sides of the channel. The view of the cliffs above and the turquoise water below create an experience that simply cannot be explained in words.

Cable car to the summit of Mount Pilatus:

From the Aare Gorge Mall, you will take a 45 minute drive towards the city of Zurich where you will arrive in the evening. 

Welcome to one of the highlights of your trip, here, you will embark on a breathtaking journey to the summit of Mount Pilate. Your adventure begins at the Kerns Valley Station, where you will take a 30-minute cable car ride to Fräkmüntegg, soaring over picturesque views over. When you arrive at the cable car station, you will board another cable car called "Dragon Ride", which will take you to the majestic peak of Pilatus Kulm, at an altitude of 2132 meters above sea level. Here await the mesmerizing panoramic views of the Swiss mountains and the shimmering Lake Lucerne. 

What awaits you at the summit:

It is important to note: you may only have to choose one of the sites for that day, depending on the time you need to return the vehicle. Consider an extra hour of traffic jams (although this is extremely rare). Of course, if the weather conditions do not allow reasonable visibility, it is recommended to choose the river canyon, in any other weather, I would choose the spectacular cable car.

Evening entertainment in Zurich: 

From there, you will return the car to the city of Zurich, and get ready to spend a wonderful evening in the bustling city. Spending an evening in Zurich offers a combination of cultural, historical and gastronomic experiences. Here are some options:

A walk along Bahnhofstrasse:

One of the most exclusive shopping streets in the world, Bahnhofstrasse is full of luxury boutiques, international brands and elegant cafes. Even if you're not in the mood for a shopping spree, the street is worth a visit for its lively atmosphere and delightful architecture.

Visit the Old Town (Altstadt)

Grossmünster: This iconic twin-towered church offers a panoramic view of Zurich, especially magical at sunset. Don't miss the Niederdorf district, the old part of the city, which in the evening comes alive with cobbled streets, medieval buildings, cafes, restaurants and bars. This is a great place to soak up the historical charm of the city.

22.10 - Sunday - a day trip by public transport to the Rhine Falls

On the day of your trip, you will discover the Rhine Falls, the largest waterfall in Europe and one of the most popular tourist sites in Switzerland. The falls are located in the northern part of Switzerland, and are 150 meters wide and 23 meters high. The flow of water in them can reach up to 600,000 liters per second, which makes the spectacle an impressive and spectacular sight.

The falls were created about 15,000 years ago during the Ice Age, and next to the falls you will find several historic buildings, including Schloss Laffen Castle and Worth Castle, which overlook the falls and add to the beauty of the area.

The visit to the Rhine Falls is an unforgettable experience, offering a fantastic opportunity to witness the power and beauty of nature up close. This is a must see for anyone traveling in the area.

Departure from Zurich:

You will start your journey in the city of Zurich, from where you will take a train from the Zurich Hauptbahnhof station to the town of Schaffhausen. The trip takes about 40 minutes without changing trains. 

Train times for October 22.10- 9:17, 9:47, 10:17, 10:47 and so on. 

I therefore recommend that you do not book the train ticket in advance, but go to the Zurich train station and order a one-way ticket from there. Train times can be updated on the GOOGLE MAPS website.

Arriving in Schaffhausen and walking to the Rhine Falls

After your arrival in the town of Schaffhausen, you can choose between 2 options - take a 3 km scenic walk along the side of the Rhine river until you reach the falls, or take a short city train from the same station where you got off that will take you to the falls. You can purchase the train ticket there, to "Schloss Laufen am Rheinfall" station (the train ride takes about 5 minutes). If you decide to walk, just head for the point - Rheinfallquai 30.

The cost of the train from Zurich toSchaffhausen is 11.6 Swiss francs.

When you reach the falls, you will go on a spectacularly beautiful cruise between the spectacular falls. 

The starting point of the cruise (the point to which you were directed): Rheinfallquai 30, 8212 Neuhausen am Rheinfall.

The cruise is a fifteen-minute boat ride that will take you to see the beautiful scenery of the Rhine Falls.

Before or after the cruise, take a short walk around the walkways that surround the falls, which showcase the power of the flowing river. You can spend hours there wandering along the waterfalls, 

The town of Schaffhausen

After visiting the waterfalls, you will make your way back to the town of Schaffhausen, the town you arrived at by train. This way can also be done by train or on foot, according to your choice (just like the way there).

Now, you will set out to discover the old town of Schaffhausen (Altstadt), one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Switzerland, boasting a rich history, beautiful architecture and a charming atmosphere. The town is known for buildings from the Renaissance period that are decorated with intricate windows and wall paintings.

Munot fortress 

Start your visit to the city by climbing to Monot Fortress, a symbol of the city of Schaffhausen. The citadel offers a panoramic view of the city, the Rhine River and the surrounding area. Inside, you can explore the wall and the central tower, but you really don't have to go in, you can just admire the view and the observations outside.

The magical town of Stein am Rhein:

If you feel like continuing to discover the beautiful countryside of northern Switzerland, you can take a train from the town's train station to the beautiful town of Stein am Rhein, which is located on the banks of the Rhine River. The train takes about 25 minutes, and it leaves once an hour (13:15,14, 15,15:15, XNUMX:XNUMX...).

When you arrive at the town's train station, you'll cross the bridge that goes over the Rhine River, and there you'll find a lively pedestrian street called the Understadt with cafes, magical buildings, shops and restaurants. After visiting the pedestrian street, you will leave the street and find the Rhine river flowing pastorally in the old town.

From there, you can take a train back to the city of Zurich, when you have to stop in the town of Schaffhausen from where you arrived, from there you can take a train to the city of Zurich.
