Itinerary to Tenerife 2022

Tenerife, the largest island in the Canary Islands, is one of the most prominent islands in the world. You can enjoy spectacular beaches and nightlife in the south, experience the resorts on the south coast (for example Costa Adeja, Los Cristianos, Playa de las Américas) and also travel in the most spectacular areas of Tenerife, including the Anaga Country Park, the Teide National Park and the Teno Country Park.

What currency do you pay in the islands? Euro similar to Europe.

Driving in Tenerife

Driving in Tenerife is not difficult. The roads are in excellent condition and the signage is common. However, be aware that the locals' driving can be quite fast and random, be careful.

Day 1: 27.4 Arrival in Tenerife, drive five minutes to San Cristóbal de la Laguna

Arriving in Tenerife

There are two international airports in Tenerife. You will arrive at Tenerife South Airport (Tenerife South-Reina Sofia Airport) or Tenerife North Airport.

According to what you wrote to me, you land in the north.

After picking up the rental car, drive to San Cristóbal de la Laguna (La Laguna). It's a 40-minute drive to La Laguna from the southern airport and 5 minutes drive from the northern airport.

Start by walking in the city known as La Laguna

San Cristóbal de la Laguna, known as "La Laguna", is a city in the north of Tenerife, located 11 kilometers from Santa Cruz, the capital of Tenerife.

If you want, there is a tour with a guide for 8 hours in La Laguna + Anga forest

San Cristobal de la Laguna

Take a stroll through the colonial city, it is the former capital city of all the Canary Islands. The charming historic city, which is also considered the most beautiful on the entire island, includes the cathedral, neo-classical Renaissance churches, and impressive mansions built by wealthy families in the 17th and 18th centuries.

An important church is the Iglesia de Santo Domingo de Guzmán from the 17th century, with a decorated ceiling, paintings decorating the interior.

Adelantado Square

Plaza del Adelantado is the main square and the historic center of La Laguna, where the markets are held, in the square stands an ornamental marble fountain from 1870, surrounded by well-kept vegetation, lush trees.

Near the square are also the historical buildings, the City Hall, the Nave Palace, a monastery, churches, shops, markets, restaurants, cafes and bars.

Palacio de Nava

At C. Nava y Grimon, 1, 38201 San Cristóbal de La Laguna

This palace is located in front of the Plaza del Adelantado, it is a combination of the Baroque style.

You will find more ideas of what to see and do in La Laguna here:  There is information here about all the comparable sites >>

I recommend making La Laguna your accommodation base for the first nights of your trip to Tenerife, stay there for a full night.

The historic center of La Laguna is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With its Spanish colonial style, beautifully preserved buildings, charming city center, market (Mercado Municipal De La Laguna), and abundance of options La Laguna is the most beautiful place to stay in northeast Tenerife .

Most importantly, La Laguna is located at the foot of the Anaga mountain range. From here you will be well placed to travel to the best walking routes in Anaga Country Park.

Dinner at La Laguna

Here are two excellent options for dinner in La Laguna.

Tasca El Obispado

La Tasca de Los Patos

There are many more restaurants and cafes in the historic center

Day 2: 28.4 A trip to Anaga Country Park

(can also be taken for 8 hours in English, comprehensive and excellent - Guided tour - like this one)

Rural de Anaga Park

At Carretera TF- 12 Monte de Las Mercedes, Km 6, 38294 San

A picturesque nature park that covers 144,190 dunams with wild animals and dozens of small rural settlements.

Anaga is a mountainous area with sharp peaks and deep wooded ravines interspersed with charming villages. The amazing area is less than an hour's drive from the city of La Laguna. The park offers authentic villages, which seem to be frozen in time, you can go for a walk on the walking paths in the laurel forest of Anaga whose soil is burgundy red and you will see many species of plants.

optional:

You can take an organized day trip Lanaga in Hebrew with an Israeli guide

Another tour with a local guide in English For 5 hours in total focusing mainly on the rain forest, Enga forest

Optional: for a trip with your car:

An ideal trip to the extensive country park would also include a visit to the Cruz del Carmen Visitor Center, on the TF-1 road. Then a walk in the lush laurel forest, a visit to Benijo Beach and the historic village of Tagnana.

The easiest route in the park: for those who don't like long walks:

The Forest of the Senses Trail is a walking trail

Walk of the Senses Forest Walk, Cruz del Carmen, Anaga Forest, Tenerife

Trailhead: Cruz del Carmen Cruz del Carmen

Trail type: loop

Distance: 0.34 km – 1.27 km

Height: minimal

Difficulty: Easy

Required time: 10-30 minutes

Directly from Cruz del Carmen, you can take a short hike through the lush laurel forest of Anaga. Starting from the parking lot, look for signs to the "Path of the Senses". You can choose between 3 trips, all of varying lengths. The longest walk is 30 minutes.

Then continue walking to the villages:

Benijo – Taborno – through the mountain Anaga

On the second day of the itinerary in Tenerife, it is recommended to take a walk into the Anaga Mountains. Start early, because parking is limited at your first stop.

Go to Benijo

You will start the day with a drive to the tiny village of Nijo. To get to Benijo, first go to Santa Cruz de Tenerife. From Santa Cruz, take TF-11 along the coast to San Andres.

In San Andres, go inland on the TF-12 road. The narrow road crosses the Anaga mountain range. After about 30 minutes (18 km), turn right onto the TF-134, which you will take until Benijo. Note, this is one of the most beautiful roads in Tenerife - don't miss it.

You can walk in the village of Bengio and enjoy the beaches and the views

Optional: you can do a walking route - a loop trip in Nijo

In the village of Benijo, you can go on your first hike in the Anaga Rural Park.

To start the hike, go to Restaurante El Frontón and follow the signs to El Draguillo and Trail PR – TF 6.

The path hugs the coastline, walking along a flat road. As you progress you will see two prominent rocks jutting out of the ocean, known as Roques de Anaga. It takes about 30 minutes to walk 2 km to El Draguillo.

From El Draguillo, turn right towards Chamorga. Walk uphill for almost 1km (270m climb) to the junction. From here turn right, and start the journey back to Benijo. The views of the coastline of Anaga and the village of Taganana are spectacular.

Then go to the village of Taganana, You can enjoy the picturesque village of Taganana at the foot of the cliffs of São Bento, on a beautiful beach of volcanic black sand under the sun. Grab a drink at the top to enjoy the view.

Have lunch in Benijo or Taganana

Recommendation for restaurants:

El Mirador Restaurant in Benijo

Restaurante El Frontón in Benigio

Restaurante Playa Casa Africa in Taganana

Los Roques Casa Pepe restaurant in Tegnana

Bar-Restaurante La Ola in Tagnana

Optional only:

Another nearby trip option is to go from Taganana to Playa de Tamadite

The trip from the village of Taganana to Playa de Tamadita hugs the beach the entire time, providing continuous views of the spectacular coastline of Anaga.

When starting out in Tagana, the only tricky part is finding the trail head. From here, it's a 20-minute uphill walk to reach the trailhead. The signage is very bad, so you can use Maps.me.

When you find the trailhead, just keep going straight, following the shoreline. You will travel through a small wine producing village called El Chorro. Shortly before reaching the beach you will cross the Barranco de Afur stream. Playa de Tamadite is the perfect place to have lunch and take a break, before starting the journey back to Tegnana.

after lunch

Drive back up TF-134 then turn right onto Anaga Mountain Road TF-12 towards Cruz del Carmen. Your next destination is the tiny village of Taborno.

optional:

From the village of Taborno, there is a short (1:30 hours), but extremely pleasant, hiking route that circles the Roque de Taborno, a distinctive thumb-shaped rock that rises to a height of 706 meters above sea level. As you round Rocca da Taborno, the views of the Anaga coastline are spectacular.

Details of the route: Roque de Taborno optional only:

Trailhead: Taverno

Trail type: loop

Distance: 3.68 km

Height: 224 m ascent / 166 m descent

Difficulty: medium

Required time: 1:30 hours

Route: Taborno (village) – Mirador sobre Barranco La Fajana (observation point) – Era de los Cardos (observation point) – Taborno (village)

Roque de Taborno is a thumb-shaped rock that rises 706 meters above sea level on the north coast of the Anaga Peninsula. While seeing the Matterhorn of Tenerife is definitely a highlight, the real treat is the dramatic coastal views. It looks like the Anaga mountain range winds its way to the sea.

To start this trip, head to Taborno, a tiny village located deep in the Anaga Rural Park. In this tiny settlement you will find a bar (Casa Hilario), a restaurant (Historias para no dormir) and a small chapel.

From the main road of the village, continue walking to the chapel. After passing on the right side of the chapel, go down a few meters to an observation point. The path continues to another observation point Mirador sobre Barranco La Fajana. Follow the circular route around Rocca de Taborno clockwise.

Around 180 degrees, there is a spectacular vantage point on the rocky Anaga beach. Complete the circuit and follow the path back to Taborno.

Back to the accommodation - explanation:

*** Recommended - after the hiking trails, continue driving on the Anaga Mountain Road back to the accommodation La Laguna-La Laguna. There are several viewpoints that should not be missed along the way:

Mirador Cruz del Carmen – This viewpoint can be accessed from the parking lot at the Anaga Park Visitor Center. You can see the city of San Cristóbal de la Laguna and Mount Teide in the distance.

Mirador de Jardina – a beautiful view of the fertile valley of La Laguna and Mount Teide.

After a full and fun day you will return to La Laguna

In the evening, you can spend time again in La Laguna at the hotel or in the city.

Day 3: 29.4 Friday

On Friday morning you can continue walking in nature in the forests of Anaga for half a day

Or continue spending time in La Laguna, walking in the old city, in the markets

You can go to San Andres - go to Santa Cruz de Tenerife first. From Santa Cruz, take TF-11 along the coast to San Andres

Another option:

From La Laguna take the tram to Santa Cruz, the capital of the island, parking in Santa Cruz is not easy, so you can leave your car.

Stroll in the capital of Tenerife from morning until noon before Shabbat begins

Santa Cruz de Tenerife

The capital of Tenerife is a vibrant city with magnificent architectural architecture, you will start your tour with the magnificent Auditorium de Tenerife, an opera house and a concert hall overlooking the sea, in the art museum you will find works by Spanish, Flemish and Canarian painters. In the fascinating Museum of Nature and Man you can learn more about the natives of Tenerife, before the arrival of the Europeans, and about the island's volcanic history. In Santa Cruz you can do shopping.

Like La Laguna, Santa Cruz is an old and beautiful colonial-style town that is fun to walk around. There is the market and of course, cathedrals. Santa Cruz has a little less of a Spanish feel, many signs are in English and the English levels may be a little higher.

What to see and do in Santa Cruz Tenerife

In the Plaza de la Candelaria is located the former fortress of San Cristóbal, at the head of which stands the Victory Monument of Candelaria, a neoclassical style statue, another important and impressive building that cannot be missed is the La Carta Palace from the eighteenth century, a baroque building with neoclassical touches.

Canary Island courtyard - this is a building from the 18th century that combines the baroque and neo-classical styles. The prominent elements are the balconies and the inner courtyard typical of the architecture of the Canary Islands.

After getting lost in the old quarter between buildings, you can immerse yourself in the green in the García Sanabria Park located among trees, where there is an important sculpture museum where the works of Spanish artists are displayed.

You can visit San Andrés, a maritime district located near Las Teresitas beach, the beautiful beach is a tourist attraction.

Return to the hotel for Friday evening, continue overnight in La Laguna

Day 4: 30.4 Saturday rest at La Laguna hotel

Last night in La Laguna - don't forget anything at the hotel, do a scan in the morning before leaving.

In the evening you can go to a knight show in Santa Cruz!

Day 5: 1.5

After Puerto de la Cruz continue to La Orotava

How to get there?

Follow TF-5 along the north coast. There are several notable places to stop along the route, including Puerto de la Cruz, La Orotava and later Icod de Los Vinos.

Puerto de la Cruz Puerto de la Cruz

Puerto de la Cruz Puerto de la Cruz is the tourist center of the north and contains some of the most beautiful black sand beaches of Tenerife:

Puerto de la Cruz is much less touristy and much more Spanish. Stroll the cobbled streets, buy a fruity ice cream and enjoy the powerful waves crashing on the sea walls. Puerto de la Cruz is also the perfect place to surf!

The most beautiful beaches:

Playa Jardin and Playa Maria Jiménez.

You can enjoy the swimming pools at Lago Martianez, wander through the picturesque alleys in the old town, marvel at churches and ancient buildings, visit museums, walk on the black sand beaches.

Another option is to go to Loro Park: note that this is a zoo and the stay is half a day or a full day:

Loro Park Address: Calle San Felipe, Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife

Purchase of entrance tickets to Loro Park

(If you want to go to both Siam and Loro, there is a combined and worthwhile ticket! Click here)

One of the most popular tourist attractions is an animal park in Puerto de la Cruz. The park is home to the world's largest parrots, a large dolphinarium and a huge aquarium with an underwater tunnel where you can walk and see sharks and sea creatures up close. Bat cave; Jungle Gorilla; Giant penguin habitat; and various exotic animals, including tigers and alligators.

After visiting the beaches or Loro Park continue to the town of La Ortova, it is among the most beautiful in all of Tenerife.

A visit to La Orotava is very beautiful and recommended - not to be missed

This colonial town was named as a national historical-artistic site. The most prominent building is Casas de los Balcones, built in the 30s and is now a traditional Canarian museum and gallery. Purchase of entrance tickets.

The Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Concepcion, a 16th-century Baroque church, features two stunning bell towers.

Hijuala del Botánico is a botanical garden with over 3,000 colorful tropical flowers and rare plants. An even larger botanical garden is in nearby Puerto de la Cruz.

You can have lunch or dinner at La Orotava

La Orotava is an incredibly charming town with beautiful architecture and a stunning atmosphere.

Recommendation to have lunch at Bar Los Castillos (address: Calle Cólogan, 10, 38300 La Orotava). An authentic restaurant, featuring Canarian home cooking.

Day 6: 2.5

Icod de los Vinos – Punta de Tano

Garachico

Follow TF-5 along the north coast. If you didn't make it yesterday, don't miss a visit to La Orotava, it is perhaps the most beautiful town in the north of La Orotava

Start the day in Icod de Los Vinos and the village of Garachico

***Please note, stop for a lookout at Mirador de San Pedro, an observation point with a stunning view

As you continue west on TF-5, be sure to stop at the Mirador de San Pedro viewpoint. You can walk between banana plantations and along the beach, walk along the Rambla de Castro walking path or just enjoy the views.

Alternatively, just have a coffee at Restaurante Cafetería Mirador San Pedro, the restaurant located at the viewpoint. Just enjoy the view and the views.

Then visit the city - Icod de los Vinos

The city of Icod de los Vinos is another very worthy stop on today's drive. People flock here to see the famous thousand-year-old dragon tree, which reaches a height of 22m. While the tree can be admired from a distance, there is a fee if you want to see it up close.

Details about visiting the dragon tree Worth reading before coming here

Beyond the impressive umbrella-shaped tree, Icod de Los Vinos is a peaceful destination full of squares (e.g. Plaza San Marcos) and attractive places to eat. It is recommended to eat at El Mortero (address: Calle San Sebastián, 7, 38430 Icod de Los Vinos).

Stroll through the shady cobbled streets and beautiful squares.

Icod de los Vinos is a historic town with traditional architecture, and the place to try Tenerife's famous rabbit stew ( conejo al salmorejo ) with Canarian potatoes ( papas arrugadas ). And don't forget to drink good local red wine.

You can also visit here a volcanic cave, Cueva del Viento, which is more than 11 kilometers long and is considered the largest in the world.

For details about the cave, go to the link:

Note: Assuming you're not going to the cave, in my opinion, Garachico is a slightly nicer town than Ikod, so definitely plan more time there.

Visit Garachico - highly recommended**  Worth reading before arriving

Your drive continues to Garachico, a picturesque coastal town known for its beautiful lava rock pools. Piscinas Naturales el Caletón were created as a result of a massive volcanic eruption that completely destroyed the town in 1706.

Garachico is a small town on the north coast of Tenerife famous for its natural swimming pools. You can dip and swim in the natural pools.

In Garachico, Tenerife's first port was built in the 15th century, it is one of the most picturesque towns in Tenerife, there was a volcanic eruption in the 18th century. It is now a sleepy town with traditional Spanish charm. It lies at sea level, but due to the eruption the beach disappeared. However, there are many natural pools formed by the volcanic rocks. A lovely place to sunbathe and relax, as long as the sea is not too rough.

Optional night tour: sunset tour - visit Punta de Teno

Punta de Teno is a rocky headland that forms the northwestern tip of Tenerife. This location, marked by a lighthouse, in the Teno Rural Park (Parque Rural de Teno) provides divine views of the Acantilado de Los Gigantes cliffs.

There are several ways to visit Ponte de Teno. The road to Ponte de Teno is restricted during most hours of the day. The entrance road to the area is closed all day except one hour before sunset, and until one hour after sunrise.

In the summer, the road is restricted from 9 am to 8 pm.

In autumn, winter and spring, the road is restricted from 10 am to 7 pm.

During these limited times, there is a guard stationed at the entrance to the Carretera del Faro de Punta de Teno road, ensuring that people do not drive to the Punta de Teno lighthouse. The guard is located in the Barranco del Monte parking lot TF-445,

If you plan to visit Ponte de Teno before seven in the evening, the easiest way to get there is by bus or taxi.

To take the bus, head to the town of Buenavista del Norte. Bus 369 stops at the "Crus de Toledo" bus stop on the TF-42 road. There is street parking on the side streets near the bus stop.

Bus 369 departs daily every full hour and 25 minutes later returns from Punta de Tano. The bus ride to Punta de Teno takes about 20 minutes. There is a different schedule for the summer and winter months, so it is recommended to check the travel times in advance.

Bus ticket: 1 euro each way

But I suggest that you drive the car after seven o'clock in the evening to do a sunset tour:

מה לעשות?

On a cliff rising to a height of 290 meters above sea level stands the magical Farol de Punta Norte do Fargo lighthouse that was established in Ponte de Vigia, located at the westernmost tip of the island, At Contacts Ponta da Vigia, 9385 Ponta do Pargo.

The lighthouse is located in Punta de Teno which is the northwestern tip of Tenerife. Punta de Teno is a reserve created about ten million years ago, by lava flows that flowed into the sea and became a rocky land.

This nature reserve is part of the Rural Park Teno (Parque Rural de Teno) the place is amazing in its beauty with impressive rock formations, clear water and a view overlooking the deep blue Atlantic Ocean.

The lighthouse is located at the northernmost point of the island and has the longest daylight hours in Tenerife, its location on the cliff and overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, makes it the perfect place to watch amazing sunsets in the area, from the lighthouse there is a view of the northern coast of Tenerife and the cliffs of Los Gigantes in the west of the island. The cliffs are spectacularly lit up especially at dusk, an unforgettable sight that you should really capture on your cameras.

Today overnight in Buenavista del Norte, or in Los Silos

Accommodation recommendation:

Luz del Mar Luz Del Mar is a lovely hotel in Los Silos. with sauna and outdoor pool.

Day 7: 3.5 day trip from Santiago del Teide to Masca and overnight at Los Gigantes

Leaving today early in the morning to catch the tour to Kfar Maska - is one of the crown jewels of Tenerife

From Buenavista del Norte, or Los Silos, take TF-82 to Santiago del Teide. The trip takes about 40 minutes.

Please note that you do not travel to Maska by car, because the road is very narrow and dangerous, so take a day trip and an organized tour to Maska.

Leave the car in Santiago del Teide and go to visit the stunning village of Masca

With the beautifully maintained houses and cobbled streets. Walk up to the Charf viewpoint at the top of a small hill, where you can get a spectacular view of the village and the jagged Tenu mountains that surround it.

The village of Maska, also called "the lost village" located at an altitude of 600 m above sea level, has been crowned by many travelers who have traveled all over the Canary Islands, the most beautiful village in all the Canary Islands.

If you ask a local what are the must-see places in Tenerife, the two places he will tell you are Mount Teide, and the village of Maska whose beauty is hard to describe in words. This tiny, ancient village in West Tenerife will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of your trip to Tenerife.

To reach Maska, you can take a 6-hour tour with a local guide in the Teno Mountains area, which also includes a visit to the most special mountain village in the world called Maska. We start the trip in the mountains in the Santiago del Teide area.

Here are details about the tour

Option for a daily tour of Teide and Tano.

Have lunch in Maska

If by chance you don't want to return with the group, want to leave before or after the time, you can take a bus back to Santiago del Teide to your car.

Day 8: 4.5 Los Gigantes

This day will be dedicated to Los Giants, literally meaning "the giants". The name speaks for itself: Los Gigantes are huge 2,615 foot cliffs rising above the sea, they are very tall and impressive.

Although very touristy, Los Gigantes boasts stunning views of the Los Gigantes cliffs and divine swimming spots, such as the Piscina Natural Acantilado De Los Gigantes.

Enjoy a dip in the natural pool in the morning.

Within the breathtaking cliffs lies the small seaside resort of Los Gigantes, head to the Mirador de Archipenque, on the access road to the town, to admire these impressive 600m high cliffs.

Be aware, there are many tourist traps in Los Gigantes, I recommend eating at Bar-Restaurante Paraiso

Or at Restaurante Pizzeria Mamma Lucia Italian food. If you don't manage to sit in this Italian restaurant, take a pizza to go.

Whale watching cruise

If you want to get up close to the cliffs, there is no better vantage point than from the water. You can go on a whale watching cruise, besides the view of the 'giant' cliffs from the sea, this is a good opportunity to spot dolphins, whales and turtles. Alternatively, you can also take a tour of the cliffs in a kayak.

In the morning or afternoon take a cruise on a beautiful sailboat in the port of Los Gigantes and set sail for a 3-hour cruise in a small group to look for whales and other marine life in their natural habitat. Cruise to the open sea in search of dolphins and pilot whales in an intimate group of no more than 9 people

Book whale watching here:

Los Gigantes Whale Watching Cruise by Sail Boat

Los Gigantes is also a great spot for diving, with amazing underwater scenery and hidden coves between the cliffs.

Continue overnight in Los Gigantes at the same hotel.

Day 9: 5.5 Teide National Park

Worth reading before arriving

Today is another record in the trip to Tenerife, you will visit Teide National Park

From the accommodation in Los Gigantes, take TF-38 to Teide National Park.

Teide National Park, Tenerife

Teide National Park, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, includes the third largest volcano in the world at a height of 3,718 meters. A trip inside the crater is the main attraction on the island.

This crater is actually what remains of a volcano that was much larger before it exploded, millions of years ago and collapsed in on itself. You go up to the crater by cable car Teleférico.

The national park consists of two huge craters separated by the Roques de García, a group of rock formations in the crater of Las Cañadas and the island's most visited attraction.

There is a hiking trail that takes you through lunar-like landscapes consisting of peaks and ancient lava fields that have turned into rock.

Pay attention - be prepared for the cold. No matter how hot it is at sea level, the drop in temperature at the top tends to surprise people - come equipped with warm clothes to Teide Park, because it's cold when you go up by cable car.

You can take an organized trip to Taida in Hebrew with an Israeli guide and pickup from the hotel - the trip is 9 hours long - all day

You can go on private tours to explore the fascinating crater and the highest mountain in Spain on a half-day trip to the Teide National Park, which includes transportation from your hotel - if you don't want to come independently.

Or travel independently - in this case, purchase tickets for the cable car and reach it:

Order here in advance Tickets for the cable car in Teide - important

After the cable car you can choose a walking route in the park:

Recommended walking routes, easy and beautiful:

This delightful loop route around Montaña de la Botia is a great option for those traveling from Los Gigantes to Teide National Park. The color contrasts between the young pine trees and the black lava slopes make this one of the most photogenic destinations in the park.

From the small parking lot outside TF-38, follow the path that runs parallel to the road. Turn left onto path 13 and follow this path around Montagne de la Bottier.

Another easy route:

Roques de García loop trail - easy circular trail, 1:15 hours

The trail starts at the Mirador de la Ruleta viewpoint, which is on the opposite side of the road from the Parador Nacional (where hike #1 started). Follow the flat path on the right side of the rock formation, follow the circular path counterclockwise.

Although most of the path is flat, the last section is marked by a steep 200 meter climb.

Tip: You can walk around Roques de García about two hours before sunset, so you can watch the amazing sunset.

Observatory-

Inside the national park, you can also visit the Teide Observatory, one of the largest international astronomical observatories in the world, open some days of the week. You will have to book a place in advance and confirm the opening days. If the observatory is closed, there is a possibility to take a stargazing tour instead.

Ordering tickets to the observatory

You can order tickets for night viewing:

Stay overnight in Teide National Park

You can stay directly in the park at the Parador de Las Cañadas del Teide hotel. This is the best option.

Mid-Range – The best place to stay in Teide National Park is Parador de Las Cañadas del Teide La Ortaba. This hotel is located on TF-21 in the best possible location. Parador is the trail head to Mount Guajera and a few minutes from the Roques de García trail head.

You can walk from the hotel to the base station of the cable car (one hour) or drive (6 minutes). If you stay here, you can also enjoy the starry sky, as there is no light pollution in the park.

Try to book a place at the Parador de Las Cañadas del Teide.

If you couldn't find a hotel right inside the park, here is a nearby alternative:

Another alternative: complain to Villeflor

Alternatively, you can stay in the town of Vilaflor, which is located at an altitude of 1417 meters. It's a 30 minute drive from the heart of the park (Parador) to Vilaflor.

If you chose Villaflor, a recommendation for dinner at Fuente Hermano Pedro, an excellent restaurant with many recommendations, serving regional Canarian dishes. They also have a selection of cakes and excellent espresso.

Hotel recommendation Hotel Spa Villalba The spa hotel is the best place to stay in Villeflor. Surrounded by forest and located in the mountains below Teide National Park, a peaceful hotel.

Guests have access to a wellness area that includes saunas and an indoor/outdoor pool. The bedrooms are comfortable and spacious. The breakfast buffet received excellent recommendations.

You can have dinner at the hotel, but I recommend eating at a restaurant in the town of Vilaflor.

Another excellent base for hiking in Teide National Park is the town of Villeflor. If you stay at Vilaflor (1,400 m), you will have the advantage of acclimatizing before tackling higher altitudes in the park. Villaflor is a 30-minute drive from Parador Nacional and Roques de García.

Day 10: 6.5 Continuation of Teide National Park and drive to the south

Morning walk in Teide National Park

If you didn't make it yesterday, you can do hiking trails and continue walking in the park today until noon.

Since it's Friday and you don't want to stay overnight in the park all weekend, it is recommended at noon to start driving south to Costa Adeje, the trip is about 36 minutes from the park in Teide.

On the way south, you can stop for lunch in Arona Town - optional.
